My ACE Project: Tan Tock Seng

Tan Tock Seng was a Singaporean merchant and a philantropist. He was born at 1758 in Malacca. He came to Singapore at 1819 at the age of 21 and work very hard in selling fruits and vegetables. He then used his savings to set up a store near Boat Quay 6 years later. As he was very caring for the poor chinese, he contributed $5000 to a chinese hospital which was later named after him.
As there were not many chinese hospitals in Singapore back then at the 18oos, Tan Tock Seng contributed a large sum of money to a hospital. This helped the chinese immigrants of Singapore in the 1800s by curing and taking care of the ill and injured. I would classify this to an economic impact. This is because if more chinese immigrants are cured, more people will be able to trade with others. When more people does so, the country will have an economic impact as more profit would be made.
As Tan Tock Seng did so much for Singapore, I think we should create a monument for him. I suggest that his monument should me located at Thomson road. The reason is mainly because Thomson is at the central of Singapore. Even if people do not want to go to the monument, they can still drive past and at least take a glance at the monument. (The design of the monument will be uploaded at the begining of the post.)
From this project, I learnt that there are many people that contributeed to Singapore however, I only know this after the project. Futhermore, the thing I dislike about this project is that it needs alot of help from the Internet. I think that the Internet is not as helpful as I thought it would be. Firstly, I thought that I could go to google and just type in the question and just get the answer. Things did not carry out that well as in the end, I have to refer to many other sources other than the Internet.
